Pi Project!

Whooooaaaaaa! I worked the Pi Project into my pre-algebra classes and discovered just how needy I really am!! I am going to have to be very specific with what I am looking for, where to look, and how to list the information. Keep it simple!

As for how is pi used today, that will be a followup to be done in a group setting. We will then research selected sites together and then branch off onto others.

So, back to the drawing board!! One aspect that I will have to work through is the amout of class time used in preparing students for such a project. The idea being that once techniques are in place with technology in the classroom, these tools can enhance future mathematical ideas and work.

Ready, set, go. Do it!

Synthesis

youtube, teachertube, google.com/calendar are in..........but hyperstudio is out!! Good, one less thing to confuse me!!

Sounding like I might have to get my own computer at home. School computing, with all its restrictions just isn't cutting it, now that I have all this techno-nology!!

Animated powerpoint.........it's the bomb!

Have been reading up on Power Point and can see where the kids would like working with it. I have seen PP used in many conferences and have appreciated the outlining technique. It allows me to follow what the presenter is saying while having a point of reference.

The 6 by 6 idea is good for me in class, too. Six words per line and six lines per "card" .
No more than 3 main points per slide! How about per class??

Note, will have to review citations.

Like the organizer technique of splattering words and connecting graphically on the paper. Seems a great way to organize information and put pieces together.

Cut and paste, something I knew about!

Learned how to do math in the google search bar, not bad! Must spread the word to the kiddies, thank you very much!

Will be learning about power-point down the line, good thing, seems easy, right down my lane!

Learned to right click with control, get it!

bubbl.us is next, more shapes. See math is everywhere!!!

Too tired, gotta go, can you tell???

Session 6, Monday, March 26, 2007

Peter, we missed you!!

Another great class, want to buy some dehydrated water???

Got to know what to believe and how to better recognize what not to believe. I am so gullible, this could be tuff!

A goal: contribute to wikipedia, might take a while, but never know!

And got some project work done, thank you Steve and Connie!

All for now.

session 5 - location and access

This is how it is done. Choose your words carefully and quote the best, then end it with an edu gov, net, com or other.

Might want to improve my vocabulary along the way so that I can make up those synonyms.

Nesting and Ctrl keys at last!!

I just might be on this session for a while, need the practice finding what I want..........always have !!

Now for the fun stuff: wikis! Create a calculus wiki so that all can contribute to the product. They can read each others, but all will contribute. Need to work out the details, practice the set up, work out the kinks!
